Asthma Management
  • It is recommended that persons with asthma see a doctor or nurse at least twice a year. [1]  Nearly 70% of adults with asthma in Michigan do not meet this recommendation. [2]

  • About 68% of people age 5 to 56 years in Medicaid with persistent asthma have been given the appropriate asthma medicine – a long-term controller medicine. [3]

  • In schools…
    • 94% of schools make sure children with asthma have access to their medicine given to them by their doctor. [4]

    • Only 43% obtain and use an asthma action plan for all students with asthma. [4]

    • 50% educate school staff about asthma. [4]
